The biggest mistake people make when going barefoot shoes

…is not thinking about the surfaces they’re putting their feet on … be that walking or running.

The thing with the barefoot or minimal shoe moving is that we’re trying to get back to allow our body to do the things it was designed to do. And whilst moveing over multi-texture ground is something inately human and having feet that move, adpat and support us whilst nourishing our need for nerve stimulation are what we need… moving over hard ungiving ground for many miles is not something that our feet were designed for.

Not only were they not designed for it, but much of what we have done as a culture is to take away the shock-absorption capacity of our bodies.. more on that another time, but for now please when you are buying minimal shoes consider the terrain you are going to traverse… and if it’s good old man-made pavements then look for a little more than 3mm on the sole.

And Vivobarefoot .. if you’re reading this then please please consider adding more cushioning to your ‘city’ shoes and kids school shoes. Either that or sell your super insoles in kids sizes too! Thank you!
